The Safe Environment Office educates clergy, religious, employees and volunteers of the Diocese of Syracuse on how to prevent sexual abuse and create safe environments for children and young people in our parishes, schools and communities. The Safe Environment Office is also responsible for conducting screening of clergy, employees and volunteers.
The Safe Environment Office has two distinct but closely related offices: the Office of Victim Assistance and the Office of Safe Environment. These offices are accountable for integrating the approved standards of the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People (USCCB, 2002) with our Catholic values and teachings, canon laws, and policies.
